Chromingo VOC6 – VOC Thermal Extraction Chamber for Fire Debris & TD-GC-MS

Chromingo VOC6

Chromingo VOC6

Chromingo VOC6 is a six-chamber thermal extraction system designed for controlled release, transfer and collection of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The system is suitable for laboratory and forensic sample preparation workflows, including fire debris VOC extraction, ignitable liquid residue screening and collection onto thermal desorption (TD) tubes for subsequent TD-GC-MS analysis. Each chamber provides approximately 150 mL internal volume, supporting efficient headspace formation and rapid thermal response.

Six Independent Extraction Chambers

The system incorporates six individual extraction chambers for parallel sample processing. Each chamber is independently temperature monitored, allowing consistent extraction conditions and easy comparison of chamber performance during operation.

Controlled Carrier Gas Flow

Carrier gas is introduced individually into each chamber to transfer released VOCs from the sample headspace toward the thermal desorption (TD) tube. The short stainless-steel flow path is designed to minimize dead volume, residual contamination, and carryover between extractions.

Temperature Control

All six chambers are individually monitored with a common adjustable temperature setpoint up to 250°C. PID-based control provides rapid and stable heating, while the LCD displays the real-time temperature of each chamber for continuous process monitoring.

TD Tube Cooling

A dedicated internal cooling pathway directs compressed air through the chamber cover body to reduce heat transfer toward the TD tube. This helps maintain the collection tube at a lower temperature during extraction, supporting efficient VOC adsorption and minimizing premature desorption.

Low-Interaction Gas Path

High-temperature PEEK fittings and inert stainless-steel components are used throughout the gas-flow path to provide thermal resistance, chemical compatibility, and low interaction with volatile compounds.

Fire Debris & Forensic VOC Applications

Chromingo VOC6 can be used for controlled thermal extraction of volatile compounds from forensic and fire debris samples. During extraction, the sample is heated inside an individual chamber while carrier gas transfers the released vapors toward a thermal desorption collection tube. This provides a practical sample-preparation approach for laboratories developing workflows for fire debris VOC analysis and ignitable liquid residue screening.

Thermal Desorption Tube Collection

Released VOCs are transferred through a short controlled gas pathway toward a compatible sorbent or thermal desorption tube. The collected compounds can then be introduced into a thermal desorber for subsequent GC-MS analysis, supporting TD-GC-MS sample preparation without the need for direct solvent extraction of the collected vapor phase.

Micro-Chamber Thermal Extraction

The six-chamber format supports parallel micro-chamber thermal extraction workflows where reproducible heating, controlled carrier gas transfer and sorbent-tube collection are required. This makes Chromingo VOC6 suitable for development of forensic VOC, material-emission and thermal desorption applications.

Applications

Chromingo VOC6 is designed for laboratory and forensic VOC extraction applications, including fire debris sample preparation, ignitable liquid residue screening, material-emission testing and thermal desorption workflows where controlled heating, efficient headspace transfer and reproducible VOC collection are required.
